Questions (1/23)

1.) The Emily Dickinson example was really helpful, and representative of the kind of feedback that I think I would be capable of providing to a student writing an essay for an English class. While Bedford does mention what it might be like to assist a student who is writing for a class outside of a tutor's purview (p. 7, "The Leaner"), I am interested in getting a few more tips in this area. What is the best way to offer ideas and feedback on a topic we are not educated in? Say, a paper about engineering? I'm interested in discussing the wide array of disciplines that we might encounter in the Writing Center, and how we can give valuable support when we might not have the slightest clue what the student is writing about.

2.) As a graduate student, I'm super interested in the programs the Writing Center offers for us. Can we talk a little bit more about the Write On program? Especially the online version, for those of us (me) who are not early birds. :)
